Press release from the Causey camp:
Chad Causey conceded the election for the First Congressional District today and released the following statement:
“Nobody thought we could come this close to winning. The national pundits and the polls said we couldn’t do it. But it’s because of you we came as close as we did. Some may say that we came up short, but I just don’t feel that way.”
“In the last 10 months, I’ve grown more than any other time in my life, and I’m a better person because so many of you stood beside me and believed in what we were doing. And because of you, I stand here tonight knowing we did everything possible and didn’t leave a single stone unturned.”
“From every hand that I shook, I’ve been inspired by you – by the strength of our people. And I truly believe that when we come together, great things can be accomplished.”
“I want to congratulate my opponent, Rick Crawford, on a hard fought campaign and tell him I’m ready to get to work. Because now is not the time for bickering or fighting – we’ve already got too much of that. Now, is the time to come together, as Arkansans. I hope you will join me in doing so.”
“Tomorrow morning – let’s not wake up as Democrats or Republicans – but as Arkansans who are ready to get to work.”
“I want to thank my family and friends and the thousands of supporters across the First Congressional District who dedicated countless hours to this campaign. You gave your trust to us, and my fiancé Meredith and I will never forget what you have done for us and for our campaign.”
