I asked John Thurston, Mark Darr, and Mark Martin on Twitter whether any of them would accept a state-owned car in his new position. Credit where it’s due: Darr stated explicitly, “no,” and Thurston wrote:
@bluehogreport John will be using a state provided vehicle for business purposes only. Use will NOT include his commute to and from work.
I have no reason to doubt either of them, and, GOP lawsuit or not, I have no problem with Thurston’s answer. Using a state car while at work in your state office and on state business is pretty much what the state cars were intended for.
To this point, I have not heard from Martin.
