Sometimes, there are matchups where one team just has the other’s number, so the result is basically a foregone conclusion. This was one of those times, though apparently City Attorney Tom Carpenter did not see the writing on the wall. He reportedly told the City Directors that he was sure to win this matchup, and he even issued a press release ahead of time in which he claimed that a win was a foregone conclusion based on his interpretation of the rules.
Unfortunately for Carpenter–and predictably for the people in Little Rock who have watched him over the years–Carpenter was wrong in his analysis. Sovereign Immunity wasted little time jumping out to a huge lead, and this game was over well before Carpenter realized how badly he’d lost. Just like real life.
